Sony Confirmed PlayStation 5 Exclusive Launch Games

The time is almost upon us! In a short six months, millions of players will be eagerly booting up their PlayStation 5 consoles. The only confirmed details we've had for the past year were the futuristic PS5's specs and software design, and the highlights of the new Dualsense wireless controller. However, June 11, 2020, was an epic day for the gaming community. Sony showcased the PS5 'The Future of Gaming Event' which unveiled all of the details we have anxiously been waiting for. Here are the exclusive PlayStation 5 games we can expect to see at the Holiday 2020 release.

GTA V

Imagine the dynamic and diverse open world of the current GTA V but with a creative expansion and enhanced features. Michael, Franklin, and Trevor are coming to a new generation of consoles in style mid-2021.


Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales

Marvel’s Spider-Man is arguable one of the best superhero video games around. The first game ended with a mentorship between Peter Parker and Miles Morales which we will see continue in the sequel. We can expect some serious web-slinging-bad-guy-punching action this holiday 2020 season.


Gran Turismo 7

New cars on a new and powerful console? Yes, please! A next-gen Gran Turismo is coming to PS5, however, the release date is still unknown. The PS5 release trailer gave some insight into the new campaign mode. Win races to unlock new cars and then customize the cars in your very own garage.


Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart

Rift Apart is the latest installment in the Ratchet & Clank series. The trailer shows a glimpse of the gameplay and storyline of this new multiverse adventure. Players will get the full interdimensional travel experience, ray-tracing lighting, new (variations of) heroes, bizarre gadgets and weaponry, and more.


Project Athia

Not much is known about the latest game by Luminous Productions. The development team stated at the PS5 'Future of Gaming Event' that in "Project Athia players can look forward to being transported to a vast and detailed world filled with beauty and dismay.” The minute-long trailer shows a glimpse at the gameplay following the protagonist as she fights off wolf-like creatures.


Stray

In Stray, players become a lone stray cat exploring a seedy cyber-city overrun with droids and dangerous lifeforms. Solve mysteries as they appear and fight off enemies in the company of a flying drone.


Returnal

Returnal is brought to you by the creators of Super Stardust and Resogun. In this sci-fi rogue-like game, become an astronaut stranded in an unknown world. Not only will players have to fight off alien enemies but they will also be in an endless cycle of death and resurrection.


Sackboy: A Big Adventure

Sackboy: A Big Adventure is the new installment in the Little Big Planet. The 3D platformer series stars Sackboy. Navigate stunning environments in a dynamic multiplayer experience.


Destruction Allstars

This first-party title is mash-up of demolition derby-style racing with platforming combat. Lucid Games (known for Switch Blade and Geomatry Wars 3: Dimensions) has not released too many details about the vehicle-combat game. From the looks of the release trailer, it seems to be a dynamic third-person action game where destruction and devastation are the ultimate entertainment.


Kena: Bridge of Spirits

Kena: Bridge of Spirits is an adorable story-filled adventure following a young Spirit Guide named Kena. Find and build a team of little critters known as the Rot, explore a forgotten village, and fight evil spirits in this enchanted world.


Goodbye Volcano High

Goodbye Volcano High is a dinosaur highschool drama about teenage love, the end of an important stage of life, and figuring out what happens next. This cinematic indie game by artistic indie devs, KO_OP Mode, will be released in 2021.


Oddworld Soulstorm

There have not been many details released about Oddworld Soulstorm just yet. We know that Soulstorm is a fresh take on the previous titles in the Oddworld series. Players follow Abe, an escaped slave to the Mudokon. When he makes a horrific discovery about the fate of his people he formulates a plan to save them.


Ghostwire: Tokyo

In Ghostwire: Tokyo, the once densely populated city mysteriously becomes a ghost town. Tokyo is now inhabited by a supernatural threat. Discover the truth behind this paranormal mystery in order to restore the city back to its former glory.


Jett: The Far Shore

In Jett: The Far Shore, explore the far reaches of the universe in search of a better future for your people. As a deployed scout named Mei, discover the wonders of this open world and adapt to the challenges you will face.


Godfall

This game is still shrouded in mystery. Most of what we know about Godfall is that it'll be a third-person, melee-based slash and loot game. You play as one of three classes from the exalted Knight's Order set in a high-fantasy world. Save the element-based world from some kind of an apocalypse. There's a single-player mode as well as co-op, but it's not clear whether online, couch, or both.


Solar Ash

Heart Machine, the developers of Hyper Light Drifter, displayed a beautiful teaser trailer of their upcoming game, Solar Ash. We don't have much information about the game just yet. We can see the story follows a mysterious humanoid through an unearthly open world. We look forward to hearing more gameplay details as time goes on.


Hitman III

HITMAN 3 is the much-anticipated conclusion to the Hitman sega. Agent 47 returns to his brutal profession as a ruthless assassin. Players have the ability to creatively complete their contracts and objectives in this intense sprawling sandbox.


Astro’s Playroom

Astro’s Playroom is a sequel to the adorable VR 3D platformer, Astro Bot: Rescue Mission. It is unknown if Playroom will be a VR title but the rest shows us the developers are going back to the original roots.


Little Devil Inside

The PS5 reveal trailer for Little Devil Inside displayed new monsters, scenes, and two potential storylines. One scene showed a knight exploring a hostile environment and another of an older gentleman living a luxurious European lifestyle. We look forward to hearing more!


NBA 2K21

In the NBA 2K21 teaser, we get a preview of the “sweat” graphics from Zion Williamson, but other details about the actual gameplay will come later.


Bugsnax

Players are invited by a fellow explorer to Snaktooth Island, home to bizarre bug-snack hybrid creatures known as Bugsnax. Uncover the mysteries of your host's disappearance and the secrets behind this unusual island.


Demon’s Souls Remastered

The challenging RPG is up for a remaster. Demon's Souls is getting a complete overhaul including two graphics modes, plus, a "Fractured mode". Bluepoint Games is taking on the remake of the PS3 original so fans can expect great things from this popular fantasy game.


Deathloop

Blackreef, a small and mysterious island is trapped in an endless time-loop. As Colt, accomplish your missions before the loop restarts. Using an array of weapons and powerful abilities, do everything necessary to break the Deathloop.


Resident Evil VIII: Village

Villageis the eighth installment of the renowned survival horror series, Resident Evil. The series continues as a first-person storyline after the devastating events caused by the evil Umbrella Corporation in Biohazard. As the returning hero, Ethan, search for answers in the village and try to survive what lurks in the shadows.


Pragmata

Pragmata is set in a dystopian lunar world. The Pragmata PS5 reveal trailer boasts stunning visuals that demonstrate the game will be perfect for the next generation of consoles. 2022 cannot come soon enough!


Horizon II: Forbidden West

Horizon II: Forbidden West is the sequel to Horizon Zero Dawn set in a beautiful futuristic world overrun by intelligent machines. The story continues with Aloy, a machine hunter exploring a futuristic frontier where machines are not her only threat.


That's a Wrap but There Is Still Plenty to Come

It looks like Sony heard the feedback from players when the PlayStation 4 launched back in 2013. There was a notable lack of first-party launch titles for the PlayStation 4. It's an error Sony doesn't seem eager to repeat. They've also beefed up the list with a sizeable number of AAA titles as well.
