Developed by SteelRaven7, Ravenfield is an early access first-person shooter available on Microsoft Windows, MacOS, and Linux operating systems. Enjoy a dose of nostalgia in this classic single-player warfare simulator while experiencing detailed maps. Players take to the fight as the blue team. Jump right into the middle of the action while fighting against the red team endlessly on the battlefield! Die and respawn in a totally different place and as a brand new fighter.
The main objective of this game is taking over key points on the map. First, players start the fight at a load-in screen. There are several different kinds of weapons and positions that players choose from here. Next, drop into a wild map full of red enemies! Notably, ragdoll physics make every fight totally unique. There are also tons of possibilities every round. Plan a strategic assault in this first-person game, switching it up and creating mayhem in lots of ways. Alternatively, open a quick session and drop in for funny and crazy physics-based combat.
Ravenfield does a fantastic job with its ragdoll physics. This, in fact, adds a great level of humor to the gameplay. There are nine maps available. Additionally, there are more on the way, as the developer is always releasing updates. The giant battlefields and combat are all made in Unity 7 graphics engine. This means that the backgrounds look great when the fighting gets wacky. Another interesting feature is the red and blue colored blood. For instance, this helps players see where skirmishes break out across the map and follow the trails to the action. Finally, there are realistic gunshots and vehicle sounds as well. It's great for helping find where the latest fights are happening.
Ravenfield's classic single-player mode pits players against artificial intelligence. At the starting screen players see all of the available units. Pick from one and land with other blue fighters. The perspective is first-person, which means that play happens through a blue fighter's eyes. Meanwhile, push forward with fellow soldiers, who are also artificial intelligence. Use this as an advantage, or strike out alone and try sniping off enemies. Roll over the red team with a variety of war vehicles such as tanks. More content is always being released. For example, an amphibious APC was recently added as well. This makes even more strategic invasion choices on maps with water!
Overall, Ravenfield offers a classic first-person shooter game. There are lots of things that players can customize when playing as the blue team. Pick from different maps and even different invasion points on those maps. Enjoy a single player mode with tons of unique fights. Something wild happens every time thanks to ragdoll physics. Play as lots of different fighting types, from infantry to tank drivers. Experience beautifully rendered backgrounds and hilarious combat. Best of all, Ravenfield by SteelRaven7 is still a rapidly growing early access video game. There is always new stuff players can look forward to while also enjoying this already large, retro-inspired shooter.
