Explore the Wild West in Red Dead Redemption 2

Introduction

Red Dead Redemption 2 is the long-awaited return to the popular RockStar action-adventure franchise. It tells the story of Arthur Morgan, a gang member in the wild west. This video game expands on the existing Red Dead universe, adding to its fictional states in the U.S. and giving players more open-world experiences than ever before.

Concept

The story of outlaw Arthur Morgan in Red Dead is very customizable. Players make choices throughout the game that affect the ending they will get. The world is very open and provides tons of exploration options. Learn the ways of Native Americans and hunt animals in the wild. Conversely, get to the heart of a town and start a shoot out at a local bar. Of course, no western game is complete without tons of weapons and action-packed fights against man and beast alike! The variety of options is impressive in this open-world western action, with a memorable story and deeply personal characters. All of this makes it a 5/5, must-play for fans of sprawling action-adventure games.

Graphics & Audio

There are many things that make this game beautiful. Its graphics are amazing, and every environment feels alive. Original soundtrack by Woody Jackson features a riveting score, which regularly changes in-game depending on what Arthur is doing. Banjos, piano, and strings bring the western theme to Red Dead Redemption 2's official soundtrack perfectly. Additionally, sound effects play a big part in the world. Details such as weather systems and animals move through areas with Arthur. See each raindrop on the expansive plains while the screen shakes from booming thunder overhead in breath-taking realness. Fine details during interactions aren't ignored, either. NPCs come alive as Arthur interacts with them, down to the tiniest facial expressions they make. Finally, Red Dead Redemption 2 fully supports 4K play across platforms like PC, PlayStation 4 Pro, and Xbox One X. The absolutely stunning work in creating a totally fleshed out, open-world experience earns this game a 5/5 score in graphics and audio.

Game Play

There are so many options for players in Red Dead Redemption 2. Hunting and earning money are definitely an important path. However, interacting with NPCs raises or lowers Arthur's honor, which affects both character interactions through custom chat as well as the story end players receive when they beat the game. Progressing the story unlocks upgrades for Arthur as well. The sandbox-style play of this game allows for a ton of customization. Of course, in true western style, Arthur wields weapons like lever-action rifles, single-action pistols, and even a pirate sword! Having to reload these old school weapons in the middle of a fight sometimes feels clunky, though. Furthermore, every dead body must be individually looted. This also might feel cumbersome to players. All in all, the gameplay of Red Dead Redemption 2 has a solid 4/5. The combat is at times frustrating and can feel repetitive after hours of play.

Conclusion

Red Dead Redemption 2 is a masterpiece that earned critical acclaim from all corners of the video game world. Its sandbox-style open-world gameplay provides hundred of hours of versatile content. It leaves players feeling totally immersed in RockStar's take on the wild west era of the U.S. There's action and adventure coupled with a truly remarkable story in this 5/5 western action-adventure!

Summary

Red Dead Redemption 2 is a stunning open-world wild west sandbox with a main story crafted to perfection and tons of side content.
