Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order - A Time of Darkness As You Fight To Restore Balance To The Force

A genre bending game, mixing elements of action and adventure

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is a genre-bending game that takes place within the Star Wars universe. Like many of its predecessor games, you play as a Jedi, attempting to survive in a universe that has aligned against you. The game does a superb job is mixing elements of action, adventure, shooters, and more.

Survivor's Guilt in a Time of Darkness

Fallen Order takes place between the events of the third and fourth installments of the Star Wars saga, five years after the Great Jedi Purge, which was Emperor Palpatine, and his forces virtually wipe out the Jedi Order. You play as Cal Kestis, a former Jedi apprentice who is hiding on the planet Bracca. After accidentally having his powers exposed, Kestis and his new mentor, Jedi Cere Junda, begin an adventure to uncover a secret Jedi vault that may hold the key to the restoration of the Jedi Order.

Reviewers noted that the characters broke the standard Star Wars mold, showing a surprising degree of humanity and emotion. Kestis and Junda, in particular, struggle to come to terms with their survival of Palpatine's Jedi Purge, battling their demons and using their experiences as a motivating force to rebuild the universe.

Superb music and wildly changing settings

"The entire Star Wars series is known for its sprawling worlds, gorgeous scenery, and monstrous depth. Jedi Order is no exception." Reviewers noted that worlds may seem small at first glance but are expansive and cavernous. Furthermore, the longer you play, the settings change wildly, and each world is hand-crafted and exceptionally well designed. You truly feel absorbed in the Star Wars universe as you play Fallen Order, and that's to the credit of the world-building that Electronic Arts developers are able to achieve.

The music, of course, is superb, but the voice acting drives this game home, giving humanity and vulnerability to characters that you come to care deeply about. Star Wars' voice acting is often criticized as being one-dimensional, but that is not the case here, as characters can successfully convey a wide range of emotions as the game's plot unfolds.

Exciting combat, gore, sparks and blood!

The hallmark of any Jedi game is combat. It has to come with visceral swings of a light-saber that somehow balance grace, elegance, and bloodshed. Thankfully, Fallen Order delivers, and there is something deeply satisfying about watching an enemy explode in a cacophony of gore, sparks, or blood when you slice them in half with the legendary weapon.

However, that's not all you will find on Fallen Order. The game contains Souls-like elements because of its difficulty and emphasis on exploration. That's an essential point for this game: It encourages you to explore its deep and intricate worlds. These incentives make you feel like you are exploring a living, breathing universe, not just playing a Star Wars game.

Play it for hours on end

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order premiered in November 2019. It is available for download via computer and on the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Stadia.

Fallen Order is fun enough that you will want to play it for hours on end. Its campaign is meaty and contains collectibles and paths you can easily miss, making users want to return to its rich planets or haunting underground corridors. While it's not an unlimited experience, there is more than enough to make you want to return over and over again.

TL/DR

Fallen Order offers a wide-ranging adventure with exceptional combat, an engaging plot, and a surprising depth of character.

A galaxy-spanning adventure awaits in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order™, a new third-person action-adventure title from Respawn Entertainment. This narratively driven, single-player game puts you in the role of a Jedi Padawan who narrowly escaped the purge of Order 66 following the events of Episode 3: Revenge of the Sith. On a quest to rebuild the Jedi Order, you must pick up the pieces of your shattered past to complete your training, develop new powerful Force abilities and master the art of the iconic lightsaber - all while staying one step ahead of the Empire and its deadly Inquisitors.

While mastering your abilities, players will engage in cinematically charged lightsaber and Force combat designed to deliver the kind of intense Star Wars lightsaber battles as seen in the films. Players will need to approach enemies strategically, sizing up strengths and weaknesses while cleverly utilizing your Jedi training to overcome your opponents and solve the mysteries that lay in your path.

Star Wars fans will recognize iconic locations, weapons, gear, and enemies while also meeting a roster of fresh characters, locations, creatures, droids and adversaries new to Star Wars. As part of this authentic Star Wars story, fans will delve into a galaxy recently seized by the Empire. As a Jedi hero-turned-fugitive, players will need to fight for survival while exploring the mysteries of a long-extinct civilization all in an effort to rebuild the remnants of the Jedi Order as the Empire seeks to erase the Jedi completely.
