I have had my fair share of run-ins with Geese. However, the geese I had to deal with never tried to steal things from me. Instead, they would chase me away after wandering too close to their nests.
With that said, thieving geese have been a popular point of focus since Untitled Goose Game hit video game consoles and personal computers last year. The idea is simple: You control a goose and try to complete level objectives by stealing and causing mayhem.
If you so desire, now you can have a goose running around on your desktop, causing you all sorts of problems.
The concept behind Desktop Goose is simple. It's not necessarily a game unless you consider continually fighting with a goose a game. Once you get the program, a goose appears on your desktop and starts causing all kinds of problems.
This program is available on a pay-what-you-want scheme. You can pay as much or as little as you want. Since it's an anti-efficiency program, I suggest that you don't pay too much unless you genuinely want to support the developers for their efforts.
There isn't much to say about the graphics and audio except that they're as basic as they come. The goose itself looks like it was created in Microsoft Paint. The noises that it makes are about what you would expect from a goose. It honks and causes a ruckus from time to time.

Once again, it's hard to rate gameplay here because Desktop Goose isn't so much a game as it is a prank that you play on yourself. Once the program is on your desktop, the goose appears and starts causing problems.
For example, it will grab your mouse cursor and carry it across the screen. When this happens, you lose all control of your cursor until the goose drops it. It's funny if you aren't in the middle of trying to get something done, which is the whole appeal of this program.
Sometimes, the goose will track mud all over your desktop. It may also drag in different goose memes and leave them on the screen. Even as I write this review, the goose continues to fight with my cursor and show me memes.
Lastly, the goose has the ability to drag your windows around your desktop. For instance, let's say that you have a music player or calculator pulled up. The goose will grab these windows and drag them around. Like when it takes hold of the mouse cursor, there isn't much that you can do but wait for it to drop the window.
If there's one thing that I can say about Desktop Goose, it's that the program is amusing. It's not something that I would leave on my desktop for long periods, but it's fun to battle the goose for the afternoon.
This isn't the first bad virtual pet that you can place on your desktop. A similar program was released some time ago: Bad Dog. This virtual pet would dig holes all over your desktop.
Desktop Goose gives you a creative new way to fight with your computer.

Desktop Goose is a free desktop companion available for PC and Mac. The game simulates a mischievous goose who steals icons, the cursor, and much more. It is a clever mix of companion and simulator, drawing its inspiration from the game Untitled Goose.
The goose will bring memes to the user's desktop, loading files from the specified assets folder. He will track muddy goose prints onto your screen while you work. The goose will even open a goose notepad app and leave you messages while you work. The game is entirely free to download from itch.io.
