Have you ever wanted to pilot a mech and utterly destroy the opposition? War Robots features intense 6v6 mech battles a variety of mechs, weapons, and locations to fight over.
War Robots is a fun, tactical PvP game if you're willing to put the time in to grind the best weapons.
War Robots started as an iOS and Android game but quickly received a PC port. The game features intense 6v6 tactical battles that require lots of planning to win.
War Robots is an excellent experience for anyone who has dreamed of piloting their own mech. Each player fight features six players in decked out robots. There are twelve different locations in the game – each with their own objectives.
Climbing the ranks in War Robots means consistently smashing your opponents by out-thinking or out-maneuvering them. While most matches are 6v6 team matches, solo players can enjoy Arena and free-for-all matches.
War Robots is primarily a mobile game, which means it is limited in the graphics department. Each robot and weapon combination is distinct, but models are not crisp. You'll see "artifacting" and 'jaggies' around some of the game's larger weapons, like rocket launchers.
The soundtrack for the game is fitting, with post-industrial and cyberpunk influences. It's nothing to write home about, and you'll probably turn the sound off during grinding missions anyway.
At its heart, War Robots is a mobile game, which means it does have a pay-to-win aspect. Users who spend money to buy premium currency are always at a significant advantage in PvP matches.
The game's developers periodically offer deals on in-game chests that contain rare weapons and modules. For paying players, these items offer a significant advantage over free-to-play players. Players can join clans to team up and unlock greater weapon rewards.
Players level their commander and unlock new robots as they progress. These robots each have different play styles intended to allow players to play offensively, defensively, or to combine the two play styles. There are over 50 robots to collect, with more added during each update.
Getting a five-star weapon to complete your load-out will likely mean spending money. Most rewards from RNG and mission chests seem to cap at three-stars, which limits weapon power. Nearly every robot you see with a five-star weapon array has paid for that setup.
War Robots starts out as a fun game with fast-paced battles full of tactical choices. But the game quickly expands and requires a massive amount of grinding to research new robots. Players are encouraged to spend real money to unlock access to new robots and weapons faster than non-paying players.
War Robots is a fun experience for anyone who likes tactical PvP battles. The solo experience leaves something to be desired. The amount of grinding required to unlock new robots will also be a roadblock for all but the most hardcore mech lovers.
