Have Juice, Not That

Juice World emphasizes the surreal over the literal. In the game, you play as a multicolored humanoid. Your goal is to run around the multicolored world, flying, smacking stuff, and drinking juice.

The concept is challenging to wrap your arms around, mainly because it almost has a Minecraft-like Sandbox feel if Minecraft was made of nightmare fuel. You do answer questions from other characters, and this unlocks new dialogue trees and gives players the chance to move forward in the game.

Other characters include a snake teacher and a wall with lips.

What's the point of this game? Who knows? Honestly, we couldn't figure it out.

An Easter Egg Went Bananas

There's no easy way to say this, so here goes: The game looks like an Easter Egg went bananas. "The graphics are distinctive". And by that, we mean that they will distinctly make you want to gouge your eyes out with a rusty spoon. Generally speaking, the color palate is, uhh, eclectic? Everything clashes and makes it feel like your eyes are being stabbed by needles.

The music adds to the feel. It is part mellow, part disturbing, but mostly sounds like what the inside of a hippie's sock would sound like if that sock was bathed in fantastic lights. Some of the characters have voices and say phrases like "Welcome to Juice School," if you can make sense of that.

"You Suck" means Game Over

Your humanoid character can flop around, moving from one strange location to the next. Wrong dialogue choices can get you killed - and no, there is no way to determine what the "right" dialogue choice is. When you die, you're greeted with a "You Suck" instead of "Game Over," if that tells you anything about the game. Also, you can die by being hit by a massive rainbow. So there's that.

The controls are awkward, more floppy than conducive to actual movement. Death comes as a result of arbitrary dialogue choices and whatever the game feels like killing you. If you are looking for an adventure that makes sense, find a new game!

Still, there is something kind of fun about it. Your character makes a delightful "BOING!" noise whenever you take flight, whizzing around the limited world. Even in a trippy and strange game like this one, there is something cathartic about flying through the air.

Something kind of fun and no price for download

Juice World is available for download for Windows, Linux, and MAC. Early versions are available now, and none of these versions are greater than 1.0. Future versions of the game are in process and will hopefully be released in the future. There is no price for the download; instead, users have the chance to pay whatever price they deem appropriate.

In terms of replay-ability, yeah, there's some stuff here that you can explore. Furthermore, as the game's very comprehensive Wiki makes clear, developers are in the process of adding more content and refining the game. As such, fans of the game can almost certainly expect to see more content added at a later date. You can get the game Here. You can join the Discord server Here

TL/DR

If you like trippy games with a surreal sense of humor, you'll enjoy this one!

From the Developers

What follows is the official description of Juice World Game, from the developers.

"Juice World is a happy place to fly around and smack things and drink juice. And explore things. And just, flip around doing stuff.

The game is in a very early stage of development. This is the first build, 0.0.1! :D

I've been working on it for a few months. I still have a ton of work to do. I want to polish the physics and add a bunch of abilities, places, items, and monsters. Enjoy, and feel free to leave feedback or suggestions." ~ Author: fishlicka
