An immersive shooter that prioritizes smart thinking over high-flying shooting

Introduction

Tom Clancy shooters are practically a genre within themselves, and Rainbow Six Siege is a crown jewel. The game is a highly tactical first-person shooter, replete with an utterly enjoyable single-player mode and a wide variety of deep and engaging serious of multiplayer options.

Concept

In the single-player mode, players become members of the Rainbow counter-terrorism program. In the game, you follow Six to combat the surge of terrorism crisscrossing across the world. Your goal is to fight against the White Mask, a terrorist group that is wreaking havoc.

However, the real joy if this game is it's multiplayer. At present, the game features twenty maps and seven different modes, including hostage rescue, bomb defusing, and outbreak. As the name implies, these different scenarios alter the game but keep their core features highly enjoyable and varied.

Graphics and Audio

The realism that transcends the tactics of this game also extends to its graphics and audio. Some FPS games are notable for their cartoon-like explosions and over the top gore. This is not one of those games.

When walls break, they crumble. When explosions happen, they leave your character dazed and with their ringing ears. In addition to realism, the game's visuals and audio go for immersive over explosives. They succeed wildly.

Another common complaint about shooters is that the maps are functionally identical, with different walls here and varying obstacles there. Again, this game doesn't fall into that trap. Coordination is absolutely required. Yes, you can play some of the various objectives without working with your teammates, but that will most likely lead to you getting shot in the face. Becoming good at this game requires serious teamwork and communication, and that's one of the things that makes it so great for hardcore players.

Conclusion

Perhaps one of the most amazing things about this game is the dedication that the developers have shown to it. Since the premiere in late 2015, it has been consistently updated. Bugs were fixed, new maps introduced, and new items added. This dedication is gratifying and admirable and will leave players wondering what comes next.

The multiplayer format of this game favors its replayability. You want to be good at this game because it incentivizes you to do so. Good players earn more renown, which is used to purchase additional operators or cosmetic items. Furthermore, the array of equipment options and operator types encourages you to experiment and find what you are good at. While the game's core gameplay never really changes, how you can play does, and that makes this game something truly special.
