Recent announcements as of April 13, 2020, reveal that Fortnite confirms its intention to launch on next-gen gaming consoles. The game itself will remain the same; however, expect optimizations to run to its full potential on the latest gaming console hardware.
Full details are scarce, but they have mentioned that they plan to migrate Fortnite from the Unreal Engine 4 the Unreal Engine 5 in mid-2021. More information will be available in the following months. Full Update Here
By now, most people reading this article will likely have some understanding of what Fortnite is all about. But for those who are just discovering the game for the first time, we'll set the stage for you.
Fortnite falls squarely into the online video game genres of Survival, Battle Royale, and Sandbox game. Developed by Epic Games and published in conjunction with Warner Bros Interactive Entertain, the game was first released back in 2017.
Fast forward to today, Fortnite is available in three unique game modes, on a wide range of platforms and devices.
Save the Wolrd is a campaign based cooperative, player versus environment game that you can play with up to four friends. It is available for purchase in both the Standard Edition and a Deluxe Edition. As you'd expect, the Deluxe Editon comes packed full of extra goods to get you started on the right foot.
Fortnite Battle Royale is the wildly popular, free to play, player versus player survival game. This game mode has elevated the Fortnite brand to what is today. Players can now enjoy this free to play, battle royale game on a wide range of devices.
Fortnite Creative is the sandbox game mode that hit the scene late in 2018. Players are free to create, destroy and generally do whatever the heck they like. Some have even drawn comparison to Minecraft in the way that you can spawn everything and build almost anything.
Powered by the widely used Unreal Engine 4, Fortnite can be described as somewhat cartoonish in appearance. The experience is quite impressive when the game is played on a platform with a decent graphics processor. If you take a bit of time to adjust the settings, you will find a balance between performance, visual, and audio awesomeness.
Each of the game modes in Fortnite brings its own unique form of Gameplay. A person could likely write an article entirely dedicated to each style. What I will say is that Fortnite as a whole is a very playable game. It will keep you coming back for more. With constant updates and new ideas, Fortnite continued to improve and expand.
As far as online gaming is concerned, Fortnite has managed to tap into something that millions of gamers want. While it may not be for everyone, you have to respect the massive following that Fortnite has amassed in a few short years. Where other games rise and fall in less than a year, Fortnite continues to dominate the PVE and PVP game genre.
What follows is the official description of Fortnite Battle Royale, from the developers.
Fortnite is the living, action building game from the developer formerly known as Epic MegaGames. You and your friends will lead a group of Heroes to reclaim and rebuild a homeland that has been left empty by mysterious darkness only known as "the Storm".
Band together online to build extravagant forts, find or build insane weapons and traps and protect your towns from the strange monsters that emerge during the Storm. In an action experience from the only company smart enough to attach chainsaws to guns, get out there to push back the Storm and save the world. And don't forget to loot all the things.
